Took a couple local Publix grocery bagger's out today. Had Zach Bowser and his good friend Dylan Durkin on the bow of the boat in search of cobia. Zach and Dylan had never caught a cobia before so I knew if we got one they wouldn't care how big it was. We headed 20 miles south of Port Canaverl looking for rays and free swimmers. About an hour into our trip we came across a giant ray that had a 12ft wing span with 3 cobia on top of him. We casted a croaker at the ray hooking into a nice 30lb cobia but after fighting the fish for about 15min the hook pulled. As we hurried to get another bait on the hook, we caught back up to the ray hooking into a 15 pounder. This one stayed hooked up and met Zach and Dylan's dinner table. We drove around some more spotting a sea turtle with 2 cobia on it. They wanted nothing to do with our jigs and our bait so we decided to work our way back to port. At the end of our trip we only ended up with one cobia but both were able to fight a fish of there own.
