Cobia Mayhem off Port Canaveral 2/26-27/11

Was invited to go offshore this weekend to fish for Cobia on my friends 34ft Pursuit called Dr. Hook with twin yamaha 250 4-strokes.  It was Bernie, Jeff and myself in search of rays and the brown turds aka Cobia.  On Day 1 we saw 3 Cobia and Caught 2 of them but they were to short to keep.  We also caught some sea bass along with some mutton snapper.  On day 2 we found the Cobia we needed.  We pulled up on one ray that had some gangster's on it.  We caught our limit today but lost 2 of the biggest Cobia I had ever seen, they were about 65-75pounds.  The fish were down south in 50ft of water and the water temp was 69.  All the fish were caught on jigs tipped with pinfish and let me tell you the Cobia couldn't resist them.  I was also able to take a quick picture of a mega yacht which is also the owner of the Saints football team.  If you are interested in catching some of these Cobia the next two months is the time to go after them and you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.  I hope you enjoy the photo's.

Banana River Lagoon Trout and Redfish 2/25/11

Kenny and John booked me for a trip today for redfish and trout.  We found some tailing redfish in about a foot of water but had no takers.  The wind started to pick up so we decided to head to the flats in the thousand islands to look for some nice trout.  The lure of choice was the Mirrodine made by MirrOlure.  After poling on the flats for a half hour Kenny was able to pick off a nice trout.  John had a couple of hits but no hook ups.  If you interested in a trip you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.

Indian River Lagoon Redfish 2/23/11

Had a Charter with Russ today from Minnesota in search of schooling redfish.  The weather conditions were very tough with gusting wind of 20mph.  We found a school of redfish in the north end of the Indian River but the fish were being to stubborn and wouldn't eat.  After being frustrated with the redfish we decided to go catch some trout.  The trout were running a little on the small side but we got into them pretty thick.  If your interested in booking a trip you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.

Indian River Trout and Redfish 2/21/11

Had Sean and his two boys Mathew and Conner from New York today on the boat.  The 2 boys had never caught a redfish or trout so it was going to be a whole new experience for them.  The 2 were competing against each other to see who could catch the most fish but both tied toward the end of the day.  Here's a photo of our trip.  If your interested in a trip you can contact me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.

Indian River Trout and Redfish 2/19/11

Had a 3 boat charter today with Capt. Richard and Capt. Willy.  We met with our clients at Kennedy Point Park in Titusville to set out our journey on the beautiful Indian River Lagoon.  I had Troy on the bow of my boat and we caught some nice trout and a bunch of small redfish all on artificial.  Between all 3 of us we caught around 200 fish.  It was a very productive day out on the water.  If your interested in a trip you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.

Redfish Bonanza on the Indian River Lagoon 2/18/11

Had Ken Barbour on the bow of my boat today for sight fishing schools of redfish.  The fishing conditions couldn't get any better than what they were today, dead slick calm waters with bright blue sky along with perfect water temps.  We started out are day sight fishing tailing redfish with top water lures which was a lot of fun, we were only able to get one redfish on top water but had plenty of misses.  After fishing with top water we switched to one of my favorites the Berkley Gulp Jerk Shad.  I'll tell you what, that jerk bait did the job today.  The school we found had prolly 100-200 fish in it with upper slot and over slot fish.  At the end of our trip we ended up with a total of 5 redfish 2 of which were in the upper 30's.  If your interested in catching some of these slobs I am available and you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.

Redfish Frenzy on the Indian River Lagoon 2/16/11

Had Nathan, Mike and Laura Meyers on the bow of my boat today in search of redfish and trout.  We headed out of the ramp at 7:30 this morning fishing the east shoreline of the IRL.  At around 9a.m. we found a school of 200 redfish that were the happiest fish ever, tailing and eating anything you threw at them.  Nathan, there son had never caught a redfish before until today.  The local melbourne family had a successful day catching five redfish and just over twenty trout.  All of our fish today were caught on the Berkley Gulp 5inch New Penny Jerk Shad and let me tell you the fish couldn't resist them.  If your interested in booking a fishing trip you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or call (321) 652-5903.

Indian River Trout and Redfish 2/14/11

Wow, what a beautiful day today was out on the water.  Had Rodger and Ken today on the bow of my boat just slaughtering the trout.  The average size was 18-22inches along with one redfish.  All the fish were caught on the mirrodine made by MirrOlure and the D.O.A. C.A.L jig. We lost track after they boated 75 trout and thats when the cigars came out.  Rodger and Ken both went home with a ton of fish for the wife's to cook for a Valentines dinner.  If your interested in a trip you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or (321) 652-5903.

Indian River Trout and Redfish 2/11/11

Had another great charter today with Andy and Nicole from Iowa.  The weather conditions were very crummy but they did alright.  They ended up with 13 trout and 16 redfish.  The redfish were still small but they didn't care, Nicole was having a blast horsing in the redfish while Andy and I laughed.  Here is a couple of photos so I hope you enjoy them.  If you are interested in a trip you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com or (321) 652-5903.

Indian River Trout and Redfish 2/9/11

Had an awesome charter today with Dan and Roger.  We fished the Indian River Lagoon this morning for redfish and trout.  Dan and Rodger have never caught these fish before so this was a whole new experience for them.  We started out the day using my favorite the Mirrodine made by MirrOlure and between them both they caught 18 trout that ranged from 18-22inches.  Towards the last 2 hours we went to look for redfish in some deep holes that I knew of and they were there.  They caught a total of 9 redfish on live shrimp and on the Mirrodine with another 4 that they lost due to the hook pulling out.  The redfish were on the small side, not what I'm use to catching but are still fun to catch.  They were ranging from 15-20inches.  Overall they both had a great day on the water so if your interested I am available and you can reach me at finandflycharters@gmail.com, www.finandflycharters.com.

Florida Today Newspaper Article 2/6/11

Here's a article of a trip I did that was published today in the Florida Today Newspaper.  CHECK IT OUT!!!

Indian River Trout and Redfish Fishing 2/6/11

It was a cold and rainy day today out on the Indian River.  Brad and Eli from Colorado booked me for a half day charter in search of Redfish and Seatrout. They had never fished saltwater before so this trip was a whole new experience to them.  The weather wasn't cooperating this morning but I knew where we could go power pole and catch some nice trout.  The lure's of choice today were the Mirrodine made by MirrOlure and the Berkley Gulp 5inch new penny jerk shad.  Eli's first cast he hooks up on a nice keeper Trout, then his father Brad hooks up.  Both were competing against each other to see who could catch the most fish before heading home.  All said and done Brad ended up winning the little fish off, with a dozen keeper Trout and two juvenile Redfish.  Eli was having a slow day.  The fish just weren't cooperating with him.  He was able to land six Trout and towards the end of there trip they were able to see dolphins feeding on the flats.  If you are interested in a charter you can find on my website the dates I am available or you can email me at finandflycharters@gmail.com.                www.finandflycharters.com  or call (321) 652-5903
